The papers you read, and how they fit together.
Orrery saves what you’re reading — papers, repos, blog posts, even a ChatGPT thread — and then works out how the pieces relate. Not “these look similar”: this paper extends that one, this repo implements it, these two disagree. Every link comes with the quotes it was based on.
A relationship, explained
Emergent Abilities Are a Mirage
CONTRADICTS
Emergent Abilities of LLMs
The mirage paper disputes the emergent-abilities claim, attributing it to metric choice.
Claimed emergent abilities disappear under linear or continuous evaluation metrics. — from Emergent Abilities Are a Mirage
Certain abilities emerge unpredictably and abruptly once models pass a scale threshold. — from Emergent Abilities of LLMs
Hover any line to see why it’s there. This is the same card you get in the app.
Orrery is a memory of the research you actually did.
Not a bookmark pile, not a folder of PDFs you’ll never reopen — the things you read, kept with the reasons they mattered to each other.
How it works
01
Save it while you're reading it
Right-click the page, or hit ⌘⇧S. It goes into a project with its title, authors, abstract, and the text itself. The extension only ever reads a page you told it to save — there's no background collection.
02
It works out the connections
Each new source gets compared against everything else you've saved. When two of them genuinely relate, you get a labelled link: extends, contradicts, uses the method of, same dataset, implements.
03
Ask it what you've read
“What did I save about retrieval?” The answer comes from your own sources, with citations that jump straight to the paper. Ask about something you never saved and it tells you so.
What it won’t do
Invent a connection
A labelled link has to quote both sources, and each quote is checked against the text we actually saved. When the evidence doesn’t hold up you get a plain grey “related” line instead — an honest maybe, not a confident claim.
Answer from thin air
Questions are answered from your library and nothing else. Ask about something you never saved and it says “not in your captured sources”, then shows you the nearest things you do have.
Keep your data if you leave
Export everything as JSON any time, in one click. Delete your account and the graph goes with it — deleted, not archived somewhere.
Read over your shoulder
The extension touches a page only when you save it. It never watches your browsing, and it captures a chat conversation only from the tab you’re on, only when you click.
Try it on whatever you’re reading next
Install the extension, sign in, save one page. Save a second one that’s related and you’ll usually see the first connection appear within a minute.
